Its ‘snow’ joke, we were wiped out last week! Just a handful of matches took place.

Just when we were going ok as far as rearrangements are concerned, it’s dented my list!

Division 1 was completely wiped out including the ‘title’ crunch match between MGS A & St. And A.

Division 2 was the best survivors last week, with 3 matches taking place, 2 of them on Monday night before the big dump of snow; Carlton A hosted Team 2KA. The home side got off to winning ways in the 1st Men’s before losing the rest of the levels only to strike back again in the 1st mixed game to leave the score at 4-6. The next 4 sets of mixed were taken in turn to leave the score 8-10 & the visitors taking the points back home to Wellfield. MOTM was Denzil Wates; he took 6 of the 8 won for Carlton.

Zodiac took a beating in the cold hall of Clayton when they took on MGS D. ‘Neddy’ Phil Rhodes was MOTM when he won all his 6 games in the 14-4 win.

Team 2KB managed to open the doors at Wellfield on Thu night to host Spring A, I bet they wished they didn’t as they crashed 4-14 to leave them virtually doomed back into division 3, albeit a miracle! Best performers on the evening were Clare Ashton & Megan Vipond; they both won all their 6 games for Spring.

Only 1 match survived the big freeze in division 3 & that was another Monday night match, Evergreens A v Clayton Crusaders A…… a crunch match…. a corker….. & an 8 all classic! The match stood at 3-5 all after the levels & then the 1st mixed split before ‘old faithful’ Derek Hilton & Helen Pickup won the next pair of games to make the match all square at 6 all. Stuart Holden & Lisa Roberts won the next pair (6-8) before Derek & Helen struck back to leave an 8 all classic! Stuart & Lisa held on to their nerves to win both games in set 9 to take the match 10-8 for the Clayton side. Best on the night was both Stuart & Lisa; they won all their 6 games on the night to help their team to push 4 points clear at the top.

In division 4, again just 1 Monday match survived the snow; Preston College A v MGS F. It was a great night for the visiting team, as they won their game in hand to fling them into 2nd place on the tables by winning 11-7. The result pushes Whittle A into 3rd, 2 points behind and both teams have to play Flight, so its gonna be a fight to the end! Simon Tomlinson won 5 games on the evening to be best performer.

In division 5, Spring E used up all their unused stored Xmas energy on Evergreens C. They managed to beat them 13-5………… YES 13-5!! A max point win!!! It does dint Evergreens promotion chances somewhat, but with crunch matches looming soon, anything can happen. Dave Burridge & Mandy Beaumont were best on the evening, winning 5 games each at 3rd pairing.

Team 2KD won their Thursday match 12-6 to virtually guarantee their division 5 status next year. They beat Brindle B who now are in deep trouble 13 points adrift of safety.

In division 6, only 1 match took place, but what a crunch match for both teams…. Garstang B v College B!

At 4 all after the levels, thing were looking like it was going to go down to the wire, but College went into overdrive in the mixed and won the next 9 games in a row to set up a 13-5 max point win for the visitors. The result puts them a massive 12 points in front of their rivals & virtually guarantees them promotion now & a couple of wins away from being crowned Champions of division 6. Best performers on the evening at Garstang were Dave Dunk & Matt Hiscock; both won all of their 6 games for College.

Although I have 1 casualty already for next week’s program, I’m hoping that normal service will be resumed!
